How to Use the AEO Content Checker

  1. Enter the URL of a guide, blog post or service page.
  2. Review your AEO readiness score and the checks grouped into answer readiness, entity and trust, and technical access.
  3. Scan the heading table. Every H2 and H3 is listed with whether it’s phrased as a question and how long the answer paragraph below it is.
  4. Fix the red and yellow rows first. Usually that means adding a short direct answer under each question heading.

What Makes Content Easy for AI to Quote

Questions as headings

People ask AI assistants full questions. When your heading matches the question, it’s easier for the system to match your content to the query. “How long does a roof replacement take?” works better than “Timeline”.

The answer comes first

Put a complete, direct answer in the first one to three sentences under the heading. Then explain the details, exceptions and examples. This “inverted pyramid” format is how featured snippets and AI answers are usually built.

Before: “There are many factors to consider when thinking about roof replacement, and every home is different…”

After: “Most roof replacements on a typical single-family home take one to three days. Larger roofs, steep pitches, bad weather or extra repairs to the decking can add time.”

Structure that’s easy to extract

Lists for steps and features, tables for comparisons and specifications, and short paragraphs. These formats are easy for both people and machines to scan.

An FAQ section with schema

A short FAQ with the real questions customers ask, marked up with FAQPage schema, gives answer engines a clean set of question-and-answer pairs. Find questions with our Question Finder and create the code with our Schema Generator.

Signals of trust

Named authors with real credentials, a visible “last updated” date, and links to credible sources all help AI systems and readers trust the content.

AEO and SEO Work Together

The same changes that make content easier for AI to quote also make it easier for people to read, and they often help you win featured snippets in Google. AEO isn’t a replacement for SEO, it’s a layer on top. If you want help restructuring your key pages, our AI Search Optimization and content marketing teams do this every day.

FAQ

AEO Content Checker FAQs

What is answer engine optimization (AEO)?

AEO is the practice of structuring content so search engines and AI assistants can pull a direct answer from it. That includes question-based headings, short clear answers, FAQ sections, structured data and well-organized lists and tables.

What is a good answer length?

For the first paragraph after a question heading, 15 to 80 words is a good range: long enough to fully answer, short enough to quote. Add more detail in the paragraphs that follow.

Does every heading need to be a question?

No. Use questions where they match how people search, especially in guides, service pages and FAQs. A page with a few clear question headings and direct answers is usually enough.

Which pages should I check?

Start with pages that answer common customer questions: service pages, pricing-factor pages, comparison pages and your most visited blog posts. These are the pages most likely to be quoted.
