How to Compare Your Page With a Competitor
- Pick the right pair. Use your page that targets a keyword, and the competitor page that ranks above you for that same keyword.
- Enter both URLs and run the comparison. Both pages are fetched and analyzed at the same time.
- Read the scores. Each page gets an SEO score and an AEO score, so you can see whether the gap is in classic SEO, AI readiness or both.
- Start with “Where the competitor is ahead”. These are checks they pass and you don’t, sorted by impact. They’re your quickest wins.
- Unlock the full table to see every metric side by side, with the stronger value highlighted.
What to Look For in the Results
Content depth and structure
If the competitor’s page has twice the word count, more H2 sections and question-style headings, it probably answers the searcher’s questions more completely. Don’t copy it. Instead, list the questions they answer that you don’t, then answer them better, with your own expertise, examples and data.
Schema and FAQs
Structured data helps search engines and AI assistants understand what a page is about. If the competitor uses Service, LocalBusiness or FAQPage schema and you don’t, adding it is a fast, low-risk improvement. Our Schema Generator can create the code for you.
Internal links
A page that receives more internal links from the rest of the site is seen as more important. If the competitor’s page is linked from their navigation, blog posts and related services, and yours is buried, fix your internal linking first.
Speed and page weight
A much heavier page or slower server response can hurt both rankings and conversions. Large differences here usually point to images, page builders or third-party scripts.
AI readiness
The AEO score looks at signals that help AI assistants quote a page: direct answers under question headings, FAQ content, lists and tables, entity schema and AI crawler access. As more searches happen in ChatGPT, Perplexity and AI Overviews, this is becoming a competitive gap in its own right. Learn more about our AI Search Optimization service.
What This Tool Doesn’t Measure
This comparison focuses on what’s on the page. It doesn’t measure backlinks, domain authority, search volume, keyword rankings or Google Business Profile strength, which often explain why a weaker page still ranks. If your page wins on-page and still loses, the next step is an off-page and authority review, which our SEO team can run for you.
