How to Use the Free SEO Audit
- Enter a page URL. You can type it with or without https://. For the most useful results, test a page you want to rank, such as a service or product page.
- Review your score and top issues. The score is out of 100, weighted by how much each factor tends to affect rankings. The top issues list puts the biggest problems first, so you know where to start.
- Check Core Web Vitals. The speed panel shows real-user data from Chrome when Google has enough of it for your URL, or lab results from a simulated mid-range phone when it doesn’t.
- Unlock the full checklist. Every check, grouped by content, technical and social, with a clear fix for anything that didn’t pass.
What the Results Mean
Content checks
These cover what a searcher sees and what search engines use to understand the topic: the title tag and meta description that appear in Google, a single clear H1, descriptive H2 subheadings, enough content depth to fully answer the query, image alt text and internal links to related pages. Content problems are usually the quickest to fix and often the quickest to show results.
Technical checks
These decide whether search engines can access and trust the page: HTTPS, whether the page is indexable (no noindex tag), a correct canonical tag, a mobile viewport, structured data, render-blocking scripts, redirects, and whether your site has a robots.txt file and an XML sitemap. A single technical problem, like an accidental noindex tag, can keep an otherwise great page out of Google entirely.
Speed and Core Web Vitals
Google measures loading (Largest Contentful Paint), responsiveness (Interaction to Next Paint) and visual stability (Cumulative Layout Shift). They’re a ranking factor, but their bigger impact is on conversions: slow, jumpy pages lose visitors who were ready to call or buy.
What an Automated Audit Can’t Tell You
A tool can measure a page, but it can’t judge whether you’re targeting the right keywords, whether your content is better than the pages that outrank you, or whether your site has enough authority from links and reviews to compete. Those questions decide most rankings, and they need a human review.
That’s why every audit pairs well with our Competitor SEO Comparison, which shows how your page stacks up against one that outranks you. If you’d like an expert to prioritize fixes by revenue impact, our SEO services start with exactly that kind of review.
Common Issues We See on US Business Websites
- Title tags that start with the business name instead of the service and location people search for
- Service pages with fewer than 300 words that never explain process, pricing factors or who the service is for
- Multiple H1 tags, or none, because of page-builder templates
- Missing or duplicate meta descriptions across dozens of pages
- No structured data, so search engines and AI tools have to guess what the business is
- Slow mobile pages caused by large images and third-party scripts like chat widgets
